When you uninstall, IIS Lockdown tool reverts the website configuration back
to when it was first installed. Any websites/settings you had made since
IIS Lockdown are lost. This is pretty widely published on MSDN.

If you feel you have a solid install, backup
%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\inetsrv\metabase.bin after running "NET STOP IISADMIN
/y" . This metabase should be a good checkpoint unless you reinstall IIS,
where you lose everything unless you backup the non-secure/encrypted
portions of the metabase and re-import them. There are various metabase
editing tools like MetaEdit that do this.

I had installed the IIS Lockdown Tool successfully a month ago and was
working OK.
Yesterday for several reasons, I uninstalled the tool with the intent of
re-installing it right away (I was confused by something). Anyway, the
uninstall went fine but after IIS restarted, the web sites that I had added
SINCE the lockdown tool was installed were gone!!! So I added them back in
re-installed and then ran the install again...
Then another issue came up where I had to uninstall again and the same thing
happened. What can I do now that I feel I have a solid install of this tool
and the website's added back in, to prevent the new sites (or additional
sites) from disappearing in the future???
I have searched for an answer but cannot find out why this happened.
Appreciate any suggestions...
Gary
