Greetings,
Hope I am posting this in the right group! This one really
has us scratching what little hair remains... /any/
insights would be greatly appreciated!
We have IIS 5.0 on a couple of machines and are running FP
extensions on a number of sites.
Until recently we have been able to author FP-enabled
sites /online/ with FP2K however of late the system will
not accept the server Administrator ID & password (not
site admin, server 'Administrator') for any of the sites
unless SSL is used.
We have double-checked that the 'require SSL for
Authoring' option is unchecked.
We /can/ get in using one specific sequence in FP (see
below) but then are unable to duplicate it on subsequent
attempts from any client, until some time later (the
initial session times out?).
We can also get in repeatedly (as normal) when SSL is used
in the URL... https:// but unfortunately not all our sites
have certs (and besides there is clearly something amiss)
The sequence that allows us in once but appears to 'lock'
authoring is as follows (this is in FP2K now)
1. Open Web
2. Double-click the desired site from the list of
webfolders
3. 'Provide Network Password' dialog appears (the larger
dialog)...
4. provide Server Admin ID/PWD response and the site's
content appears
5. click "Open" and site opens, the /first/ time only!
Subsequent attemps with the same procedure fail.
If we try to do the same thing but in Step 2. just Sinlge-
click the web-folder and then click 'Open', the normal-
sized challenge-response dialog appears and the same
Server Admin ID/pwd response fails altogether.
The same problem is taking place on two physically
different machines and we have tried from 2 different
desktops that are not in same physical location or on the
same network.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks!
Greg
