Digest Authentication

After reading lots of documentation I feel like a dog
chasing his tail. I have tried everything I can think of
or find to try and get Digest Authentication to work but
no luck. When I access the web page in question I get the
password box but no matter what combination of userid-
password I throw at it, it just pops back up asking for it
again, three times and then I get the unauthorized access
page. Refresh the web browser and it starts all over
again. Pheew, I'm tired. Any sugestions?
