Hi

I am running a web site with lots of pictures and graphics. This web site
has been running on W2K IIS5 for 2 years and is becoming more and more
popular. However, last night my ISP told me that there was abnormal traffic
to my web. The normal traffic was 15Mb during peak hours but yesterday it
was as high as 50Mb. In order to protect other web sites on the same LAN, my
ISP has stopped my web until I have found a fix to the problem.

After reviewing the IIS log for a 10-min time interval, there were more than
10,000 accesses to 10 of the pictures on my web. The size of each pic is
around 300k and total traffic generated during this 10 min was already
exceeding 300MB!

The traffic was generated by more than 500 different IP addresses so I was
suspected it was done by some PCs infected with Trojan Horse or virus. I
already have IISLOCK and firewall installed but they cannot distinguish any
irregularities on this pattern. Whenever I switched on the server again,
these IPs will keep attacking my web site constantly and consume all the
bandwidth.

What can I do???? Are there any ways other than informing the Police?
Appreciate any suggestions.

regards

Anthony
