Sameer,
You want to look at the Mono project ( http://www.go-mono.com/ ) and there
is another project called DotGNU (http://www.dotgnu.org/) that you can also
look into. Also, Microsoft has made available source code for the Common
Language Runtime and support libraries that you can compile and run on
FreeBSD, OSX and WinXP and I know folks were porting this over to Linux.
