The error message I receive is the following (where "share" and "database"
refer to the actual path):
Error: -2147467259 -- The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file
'\\share\database.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or
you need permission to view its data.

For this connection I'm using an ASP page with a DSN connection. I have
three other web servers which can all make the connection (i.e. return a
recordset) to this same remote database. It's only this fourth web server
which is having a problem. All 4 web servers have been set up on the remote
database server with the same permissions, shares, etc. The temp folder does
have permissions set. I've reviewed these settings many times --- just in
case I missed something.

The web servers are all Windows 2000; the database is Access 2000.

This fourth web server had been able to work properly with the remote server
and then it crashed terribly. The IT folks re-installed the OS and restored
my files from backups; and now I'm having problems. My last resort will be
to have them rebuild the server from scratch, but I'd really like to know
where (Registry, Metabase, elsewhere) the problem lies.
