It is possible. Different sites will be running on either different
ip addresses assigned to the same machine or on different ports
(e.g. 80 and 8000) or they could be recognized by different host headers.

I am sure there are good resources about it.
I just want to suggest not to install SQL server on the same
machine which runs IIS.
