FP 2k2 Publish not allowed to IIS 5.1 XP Anyone know why?

I recently wiped out my desktop Win2k Pro to install XP and IIS 5.1. Now I
cannot publish my web pages from FrontPage 2k2 on my laptop (Win 2k Pro).
This of course worked fine before I removed my desktop Win2k Pro. I think
the problem appears to be in my understanding of XP user accounts and
access. When I try to publish in FrontPage I get the standard "logon"
dialog asking for username, p/w, and domain. I just have two computers
connected and they see each other just fine (file sharing, print sharing
etc) although I noticed that certain directories under the drive share I
created are "blocked" (Access denied message when I try to open the folder).
The virtual directory I'm trying to publish to is one of the directories
that I cannot manually copy files from my laptop to my desktop. If I map a
drive from my XP desktop back to my Win 2k Pro laptop (C$ in this case using
my admin user id and pw) I can copy files into the web virtual directory. I
cannot create a share using C$ from my laptop to the desktop (I think I
remeber reading about this change some time ago) so I just created my own
share called 'C'. Why certain subirectories under my share are not
available is beyond me. Obviously some form of default I know nothing
about.

The user accounts on my XP machine I created have administrator rights and
I've typed them in repeatedly but the logon dialog keeps reappearing. I
have tried \\servername\userid and this hasn't helped either. I have even
tried turning off "integrated Windows authentication" (Web Site
properties/Directory Security/Anonymous access and suthentication
control/Authenticated accesss) but it will not publish. I have even tried
my own user id and p/w in the Anonymous access section but that doesn't work
either.

IIS is isntalled as I can get to the "under construction" page provided as a
default install page from my laptop. I can even get to the other virtual
directories like help (iishelp) and the team share web I believe (tsweb).
So, IIS is running and the 2002 extentions are installed. I even tried
modifiying the user account access using the 2002 extention admin pages. I
even uninstalled IIS, rebooted, reinstalled IIS and the FP2k2 extentions.

Can anyone help me with what I'm missing? How can I publish from FP2k2 on
Win2kPro to IIS 5.1 XP?
