David,

Can you explain a bit more how you have set up this virtual directory?
Also, what are you typing into your browser to get to the site from both
inside and outside your network? Finally, what is the common name of the
certificate you are using?

Once we have answers to these questions we should be able to better
determine what the problem is and how to resolve it.
