My company has a public website hosted on a Win2k server
using IIS. I've setup a virtual directory under the
default website and pointed it to my intranet website,
which is hosted on the same server. i want it to be
secure, so i've setup a public certiicate and 128 bit
security, and i've selected 'basic authenticiation' and
required SSL to access the page. when i test it inside
my LAN, it works fine, the page loads the certificate and
asks for a user id and password, then loads the page.

the problem is when i test it outside the LAN. when i
try to load the page, it just gives the 'page cannot be
displayed' message. I am using the https prefix. it
never says anything about the certificate or asks for a
password, it just goes to the 404 page. any help is
appreciated!!
