Hi,
I've just posted new version of RunAsAdmin tool (both source code and
binary) to my blog
http://www.harper.no/valery/PermaLink,guid,99b85fa3-104f-4a41-a28f-4786c68e77e4.aspx.
The tool registers itself as alternative Windows shell and drops rights on
standard windows shell (explorer.exe) which it starts. Tool allows to logon
as administrator, but run windows shell and all programs started from it
with least user privileges (no write access on HKCR, almost no privileges
and administrative group membership being used only for deny-only aces).
Additionally tool allows to start programs with different levels of trust
(from unrestricted to untrusted) by using context menu shown by
right-clicking of trayicon that it displays after startup of Windows
explorer.
New version is easy to translate to any existing language (all UI strings
are in UNICODE messages.mc file for message compiler). If you want to
translate it to your language I'll be really glad to integrate your
translation to the central download of RunAsAdmin tool. I'm also planning to
put it on either gotdotnet or sourceforge (didn't decide yet where to put
it). I written some ideas for future development of this tool to my blog
post that I referred at the beginning of this post. If anyone has suggestion
about where to put it (sourceforge vs. gotdotnet) or wants to participate to
the project, send me e-mail or post your comment on my blog.
