security problems after install?

    I just installed Visual C++.net 2003 standard. Now the computer automatically logs off after a few minutes. I'm not sure what caused this change but I cannot figure out how to change that.

    Most annoying, and perhaps allarming, is that there are several inaccessable windows when I log back in. There are several with the microsoft messanger logo on them but they don't respond in any way. They just take up the screen and task bar. There are 6 of them right now. Also there is a MCI command handler window open.

    What does this mean? Has my system been hacked from the outside? McAfee didn't find anything.

    Any help would be appreciated.
