Okay, could someone provide a quick guide as to how I might set up the
server so as to allow it to be accessed remotely? or is this not
possible.
I have win 2000 server.
IIS running
dot net 1.1
The app is loaded on a folder which is pointed to by a virtual folder
called YAS (Your Assessment System if you want to know - some
assessment software I've written for schools - www.sandcastle.me.uk)
In the folder is my asp.net app called assessment.aspx and a bin
containing the code behind dll and an access database called
assessment.mdb. Usual .dot config files.
This all works perfectly from local terminals.
We access it as http:/intranet/YAS/Assessment.aspx and away it goes.
Now in order for a remote computer to access it and run it I am
picking up that the .net security manager (under admininistrative
tools?) needs to be run (is this running caspol? which I've read
about?) and things configuring.
Anyway it seems to want me to assign trusted policies or something so
I guess the system is saying it doesn't trust remote computers?
But honestly, I haven't a clue about this stuff. If someone could just
explain briefly what I need to do, I'd be very grateful. (I'm trying
to set it up so my pupils can do revision tests for their GCSEs.)
Many thanks
