Domain UserId?

Hello,

I assume windows domain controllers have a User Id.
So that if I change my user name my User Id never changes.

I'm told this is SID (Security Identifier), but nothing seems to resolve to
a userid number.

Is there a way to obtain this info? Anyone have a sample converting both
ways UserId = UserName?

The idea is to let the PDC maintain the users/ids. and I can store them for
user specific items in applications or database tables.

Currently using VB.NET, but anything is better than nothing..

Thanks,

Schneider
