PCSC wit synchrooous smart-cards?

Hi,
I've recently played around a bit with winscard.dll and tried to use this
api to access different smartcards.
Till now I'm able to read out all the SmartCard-Database information,
enumerate my readers and open a connection to SOME smartcards. This means on
some cards the SCardConnect-Function works perfectly well and on others I
receive an error "SmartCard could not be reset". Verifying those cards with
the more lowlevel CT-API I found that those cards that can not be reset are
synchronous cards (semm to be simple memory cards) while the others are
characterized as asynchronous and seem to be real processor-cards.
Is it possible to access memory-cards / synchronous cards via the
PCSC-Interface?
