Hi,
I have a domain at an ISP provider and try to install an ASP.NET 2.0
application in a subdirectory. It's a wiki called ScrewTurn. I have asked
my ISP to set it up according to the developers' specification, but I
constantly run into problems. The subdirectory is set as an .net
application and the public directory is given read and write access to the
Network Service account. I have tried to alter the web.config file in the
subdirectory without success. I usually end up with a
System.NullReferenceException at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain or
a "The attribute 'userName' has been locked in a higher level
configuration". According to the developers the wiki engine does not
require any type of authentication, but they cannot assist in the
configuration of the web.config file. Apparantly, it runs it the root
directory, and some ISPs have ScrewTurn run i subdirecories. My ISP cannot
figure it out. Can anyone help me with common problems in web.config for a
.net application in a subdirectory? I know it is merged with the ISP's
root web.config file, but does not know the content this file. I suspect
security issues or file path problems.
Best regards
Ola Lie
