    I can't answer the other question, but scopes are an advanced feature.
    Essentially, they allow you to change the definition and meaning of your
    roles for different parts (scopes) of your application. If you had a big
    application that needed totally different roles for the same operations in
    one part of it, you might use a scope for that.

    There are some good details on this in Keith Brown's .NET/Windows security
    book, but it is hard to find tons of details on AzMan in print yet.
