We have a webservice running on the intranet. The
Microsoft Access database is on the c: drive on the IIS
server and that works fine. For various reasons we want
the Access database on a different machine (a Novell
server) and have therefore copied the database.
Now the error message comes: Server was unable to process
request -->
\\server01\vol1\data\groepen\datajos\accessmdb.mdb is not
a valid path.
Trying it with a drive mapping does not work either,
although from the explorer on the IIS machine you
can "see" the database. Thus NET USE G:\server01\vol1
\data\groepen does not work either.
To refine the problem I placed the database on a win98
machine and made a mapping from the IIS server. That
works, so it is apparently something to do with the way IIS
(.net) or Ado.net log on to the Novell server.
I am not a security expert and the Novell system manager
does not know IIS, so can someone please help me or point
me to a publication about this? I suspect that it has
something to do with machine.config in the .net framework
but I do not uderstand that fully.
Thank you very much
Jos
ps: this is a crosspost from public/webservices (I had
forgotten that I also can use the managed groups.
