URGENT: ASP.Net app needs network share access

I have an ASP.Net application that needs read-only access to a network
share. One server has .Net installed, the other server that has the folder
to share does not have .net installed.

I've followed the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=317012
creating a new account (rather than overwrite the original ASPNET account
with any mistake I might make). I've also created an identically named
ASPNet account on my fileshare server with the identical password.

However, when I try to open a file for read access I get the following
error:
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (message from an
exception)

I've successfully done this process on my personal servers but have been
unable to duplicate it on another set. The only difference that I can think
of between the two server networks is that mine is a domain and the other is
a workgroup.

Any ideas?
