Newbie security problems

A developer whi has gone on holiday ( lucky him ) has
installed a server w2k with sp3. On that server he
installed .net framework. The site is working but ?? when
i backup the server i get an acces denied from my backup
software on the following directory
c:\winnt\microsoft.net\framework\v1.0.3705\config\*.* the
backup software has enough file level rights on that dir
and files. Also the are no normal policy's i now of.

i found a .net framework configuration msc but cant find
where i have to look. Can some one please help this newbie.

Also does someone now of a good book or link to start
studying for .net framework ??
