Has anyone succeeded yet in applying SQL2KDeskSP3 to the
named instance of MSDE that is installed with the .NET
Framework SDK QuickStart tutorials?
The instance is called <machinename>\NetSDK. The sa user
exists but is not relevant because the instance uses
integrated security by default.

I have no problems accessing the NetSDK instance from the
Enteprise Manager or from the Query Analyzer, but am
unable to apply SP3.

I tried *many* variations along these lines:
Setup.exe /upgradesp SQLRUN INSTANCENAME=<mymachine>\NetSDK
So far the error messages I got were:
invalid product code was found. Check if the product is
installed
- or -
The product is not installed. Check if a appropriate
instance of MSDE is installed

I checked the product code in the registry, as suggested
by sp3readme.htm. It is 5B5BFFF9-9D55-45AF-9390-
AA4DC1C4EEFE. This is NOT listed as one of the valid codes
in knowledgeBase article 311762 (no surpise there), at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;Q311762.

I don't know what else to try - any help appreciated!
