Hi All -
I'm trying to get a clean security setup for my ASP.NET pages and web
service under .NET Server 2003 RC1. I'm starting off with setting my login
page to use SSL, but I keep getting this warning when accessing it using
https:
Security Alert
Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by
others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate.
(green checkmark) The security certificate is from a trusted certifying
authority.
(green checkmark) The security certificate date is valid.
(yellow exclamation) The name on the security certificate is invalid or does
not match the name of the site
Anyone have any details on how to get rid of the warning?
Here's the process I followed:
1) Installed Certificate Services as a standalone authority. The server is a
standalone domain for testing only.
2) From IIS I issued a request for a certificate. I tried different
permutations of the name, nothing changed the warning.
3) I processed the request in the Certificate Authority snap-in, and
received the certificate back in SSL.
4) I lastly set the "requires SSL" property in the Directory Security page
for the login page and tried browsing it. When accessed from another machine
it just locked up. When browsing on the server itself I get the above
mentioned warning box.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Kipp Hawley
