Using the crypto services providers of .Net, my application dynamically
creates public/private/symmetric keys at run time (I control both ends of
the conversation with Windows forms apps on both ends). It works, but it
creates a large buildup of what I take to be files continaining these keys
in two different folders under c:\documents and Settings\Randy\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypt\RSA\. Each file is 2K.
These now number into the thousands. Do I devise some method to erase these
each time? Does the very presence of these files compromise anything? What
do people typically do?
Why does the crypto provider create these files at all? Why is this
information persisted? Once these files are created, are they needed later
for anything?
Many thanks,
Randy Neall
