Mind, I'm not saying that that is the easiest way of transferring files,
or that we haven't strayed off topic a little. However, there is no
reason to '*boggle*' here, except perhaps that shar archives have
(fortunately) become almost extinct.
Well, all kidding aside, I reserve the right to be boggled here :D
So lets admit that SSH is not perfect. Nothing is perfect...right?
But suggesting going back to telnet ...just seems odd to me.
What boggles me are some of the suggestions...They remind me of a lost
traveller asking how to get to a building across the street and a local
tells them the best way to get there is take a bus to the train station
20 miles in the other direction, catch the train back here and then
cross the street.
*boggle*
(just for you!)
I wasn't suggesting going back to telnet, really. However, Kerberized
telnet can be used as an alternative to ssh, as can telnet over ssl, so
if someone was asking if there are alternatives, as happened, I might
suggest it, as happened. ;-)
That doesn't mean that I'm going to use it, and yes, the above
suggestions are a bit roundabout...
