problems with nessus on knoppix 3.8.2

i start the nessus daemon and get
loading the plugins ... 1938 (out of 2386)bus error
and when i run the nessus client on the same machine i get
could not open connection to local host.
i am using an ibm t42 with 512MB of mem.
any suggestions would be great. thanks.
