Hi all;
>From the previous posts I've read I think I know the problem but would
like to verify.
I have a home network set up as follows
Cable -----sniffer 192.168.0.100
Modem-------->Dlink Router-----Linksys Hub/-----server 192.168.0.102
\-----laptop 192.168.0.101
My sniffer is only capturing packets directed at or eminating from the
host it is on (FreeBSD 5.2). It also catches broadcasts and arp
requests. It sounds like my hub may actually be auto-switching, but I
can't find any technical specs to verify this.
Do I need to replace this hub with a single-speed (10 mbps) hub? Is
there anything I should check? when i run tcpdump it says the
interface is in promiscuous mode, but still only captures traffic
directed to the box.
thanx
