imap is a better protocol for your clients than pop3: the mail messages
stay on your server so your clients can access their messages from any
computer. It also has better authentication options if you need them.
Then the basic choice is courier imap or cyrus imap. If your email
clients are all users (with logins) on your mail server, you can use
either, otherwise cyrus is the best option.
I use exim and cyrus.
