installing SNORT: libnet problem

When Installing snort, I need to install libnet too.
But when I then try to ./configure snort, it can't fine libnet-config.
where should libnet-config be ?
it's in the source-dir when unpacking the .tar, but apparently it
needs to be replaces during "make install" , or is it ?
