     SSRT3620 Potential security vulnerability B.11.11 DCE
     -----------------------------------------------------------------

    NOTICE: There are no restrictions for distribution of this
    Bulletin provided that it remains complete and intact.

    The information in the following Security Bulletin should be
    acted upon as soon as possible. Hewlett-Packard Company will

    from customer's failure to fully implement instructions in this
    Security Bulletin as soon as possible.

     -----------------------------------------------------------------
    PROBLEM: Potential security vulnerability in B.11.11 DCE

    IMPACT: Processes may fail.

    PLATFORM: HP-UX B.11.11

    SOLUTION: Manually install libcma files.

    MANUAL ACTIONS: Yes - NonUpdate
     --> HP-UX B.11.11 - Download and install libcma.1
     --> and libcma.2.

    AVAILABILITY: This bulletin will be revised when patches are
                   available.

    CHANGE SUMMARY: Rev.01 - libcma.1 and libcma.2 are available.
     -----------------------------------------------------------------
     A. Background

        PHNE_27063 introduced new behavior which can cause DCE
        libraries to fail. The behavior is present in the
        superseding patches PHNE_28089 and PHNE_28895.

        The worm referred to as "Blaster" or "W32.Blaster.worm"
        creates network traffic which can lead to the DCE failure when
        PHNE_27063, PHNE_28089, or PHNE_28895 is installed.

        As the worm attempts to find new systems to infect it can
        cause programs to fail. HP-UX is impacted as a side effect
        of the network traffic generated by the worm.

        The change introduced in PHNE_27063 may have a wide impact,
        but at this time the failure has been observed in programs
        which use libcma, such as /opt/dce/sbin/rpcd and the sd
        programs (swinstall, swlist, etc.).

        Note: The affected versions listed below may change when a
              fix is available. If the fix is in a DCE library, that
              will be listed as the affected software.

         AFFECTED VERSIONS

         The following is a list by HP-UX revision of
         affected filesets or patches and fix information.
         To determine if a system has an affected version,
         search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
         for an affected fileset or patch, then determine if
         a fixed revision or applicable patch is installed.

    **REVISED 01**
         HP-UX B.11.11
         =============
     --> DCE-Core.DCE-CORE-SHLIB
     --> fix: download and install libcma.1 and libcma.2.

         END AFFECTED VERSIONS

     B. Recommended solution

     -->Install PHSS_28386. Then download libcma.1.1111.gz and
     -->and libcma.2.1111.gz from the following site:

            System: hprc.external.hp.com (192.170.19.51)
            Login: libcma
            Password: libcma

            FTP Access: ftp://libcma:libcma@hprc.external.hp.com/
                    or: ftp://libcma:libcma@192.170.19.51/
                    or: ftp hprc.external.hp.com

         Unpack libcma.1.1111.gz and libcma.2.1111.gz. Verify
         the MD5 or cksum values.

         Note: If you wish to verify the md5 sum and you do not
               have a copy of md5, please refer to:
                   HPSBUX9408-016
                   Patch sums and the MD5 program

             125364855 565248 libcma.2.1111

        MD5 (libcma.1.1111) = 6f540374dd00c1efc000f968835fed4c
        MD5 (libcma.2.1111) = e9bbb2135d466e941d43e1dbb22d6265

        Copy libcma.1.1111 and libcma.2.1111 into /usr/lib/.

            cd /usr/lib
            chown bin:bin libcma.1.1111
            chown bin:bin libcma.2.1111
            chmod 555 libcma.1.1111
            chmod 555 libcma.2.1111
            mv libcma.1 libcma.1.orig
            mv libcma.2 libcma.2.orig
            mv libcma.1.1111 libcma.1
            mv libcma.2.1111 libcma.2

        Restart all programs which use libcma.1 or libcma.2.
        The recommended way of restarting the those programs
        is to reboot the system.

        to the current Security Patch Matrix. Updated daily, this
        matrix categorizes security patches by platform/OS release,
        and by bulletin topic. Security Patch Check completely
        automates the process of reviewing the patch matrix for
        11.XX systems. Please note that installing the patches
        listed in the Security Patch Matrix will completely
        implement a security bulletin _only_ if the MANUAL ACTIONS
        field specifies "No."

        The Security Patch Check tool can verify that a security
        bulletin has been implemented on HP-UX 11.XX systems providing
        that the fix is completely implemented in a patch with no
        manual actions required. The Security Patch Check tool cannot
        verify fixes implemented via a product upgrade.
