i have some ipsec/vpn questions for the ipsec/vpn experts here ...
my current environment is a solaris 8 box with ipfilter running as the
stateful firewall and nat solution for the internal private network
needing outbound communication to the internet; but there has become a
need for vpn connectivity to the private network from broadband
connections. my hope is to reuse the current box as both a firewall
and vpn server.
the architecture would have the end-user using either windows or mac
desktop/laptop over a broadband connection with a vpn client (ie:
nortel client, checkpoint securemote, ssh sentinel, etc.) to establish
a vpn connection to the current firewall/vpn server for access to the
internal private network. an internal private ip address would be
obtained by the internal dhcp server to be used during the vpn tunnel
session.
i understand at solaris 8 does not ship with the ipsec & the required
cryptos; they need to be installed after the fact via downloading the
packages directly from sun. i also understand that the ipsec &
cryptos for solaris 8 only support shared secret keys (ie: manual
keying) ... this had been done but to my knowledge those installed
package will not provide me with the full solution i need ... so here
are a some questions ... has anyone successfully ported openbsd
isakmpd to solaris 8? has anyone successfully used solaris 9 in.iked
under solaris 8?
any help appreciated ... thanks
