what ports does sendmail /popper use?

I know sendmail uses tcp 25 and pop is on 110 tcp

but when i block all other ports my mail server fails. i get an error along
the lines htat it cant resolve the domain. 53 is also open? does it need to
have anothr port open? the udp ports?
