Quite easily bypassed by deleting/renaming the file:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Index
\wmplibrary_v_0_12.db

The either create an empty read-only file in its place, or a read-only
directory. No more database unless it is hidden in more than one place.
