Qpopper 4.0.x under RH Linux 7.2?

    I've got an RH 7.2 test system running, I've compiled and installed qpopper
    4.0.(6b?), with the appropriate SSL libraries already installed. I can get
    the qpopper running as a standalone server on the system, but I can't seem
    to access it via Microsoft Outlook 2000. I've tried a variety of
    configurations, but keep getting errors like "An unknown error has occurred.
    Please close this program and restart it." or "Unable to access the server",
    that kind of thing. I've tried both the default ports as well as custom
    settings, all to no avail. Anyone with any experience on this? Thanks in
    advance.
