It appears that you're correct, however Usenix/Sage has always been this
way. They are an organization with membership dues, and the results of
this survey are one of the benefits of membership.
Believe it or not, when it comes time to negotiate with an employer
Usenix/Sage salary survey numbers are an excellent way of keeping said
employer honest about "fair market" value of your skills.
If you want "free" numbers go to monster.com or some equivalent site.
