That might point me to the right direction. My ssh-command is

ssh -D 8088 My_ssh_server

Since i can partially use this forwarding (i can read mail but i cant
send mail) this problem is not related to port 8088 of my localhost but
to port 25 (smpt) of remote host. So maybe not all processes running on
the server have terminated cleanly?

I will have to wait until it happens the next time. So what could be
done, to get more information?
