public key authentication with openssh on openwrt



Hello,

Openwrt (white russian 0.9) is a linuxdistribution for systems like linksys
wrtgl routers/accesspoints. There is only one user (root) at this system
and roots home is set to /tmp (which is a ramdisk).

There is a openssh-package for this distribution. After installing it, i
was not able to configure public key authentication. I tried to set

AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/.ssh/authorized_keys
AuthorizedKeysFile /etc/ssh/root/.ssh/authorized_keys
AuthorizedKeysFile /.ssh/authorized_keys
AuthorizedKeysFile /tmp/.ssh/authorized_keys
AuthorizedKeysFile ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
AuthorizedKeysFile .ssh/authorized_keys #the original setting
AuthorizedKeysFile /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

copied the corresponding files to their proper places, did a

chmod 655 .ssh
chmod 755 .ssh/authorized_keys

but nothing did work. The connection is refused because op public key
authentication. So i have two questions

1.: Does someone know, how to run openssh as a server on openwrt (white
russian 0.9) with public key authentication

2.: Is it possible, that the package has been build without public key
authentication? (But then, public key could not be accepted by the server?)
