Best idea I've had so far: I wonder if it might be nothing to do
with the actual X forwarding, and more to do with the termios
characteristics of the terminal device from which the program was
launched?
I suggest the OP try playing with stty before launching the program:
`stty erase ^h', `stty erase ^?', even something really silly like
`stty erase ^x'. See if that makes any difference.
