I'm using putty 0.59 on Win XP pro. X11 forwarding is turned on. I can
run xterm and xclock just fine. But when I run Oracle's installer,
neither the backspace key nor the cursor keys work. They don't do

For the backspace, try using ^H ( Ie hold down the control key and then
typing the h key). This is the standard until the baleful influence of the
Ancient Dec VT100 keyboard finally overcame all. Now most distributions use
^? as the backspace key, but some programs still use ^H.

The cursor keys are/maybe another issue.

Still doesn't work.

Oddly though if I run any other gui program - like gedit for example -
backspace and cursor keys work fine. I'm wondering if Oracle managed to
screw something up in their X11 GUI tools. Somehow they've managed to
make them dependent on which ssh client you use to do the X forwarding.
