    Hi

The linux box is within my network, i have small network at home. I can
also ssh to linux box from the xp-box using Putty.

I have other pc that has xp installed on it,, however theres no service
pack or any firewall on it, and when I move the main connection to this
PC, I don't face any problem at all connecting to the university
    server,.

Its just that this PC placed in uncomfortable position, so its kinda
hard to carry out any task on it.I only use it for experiment and
    troubleshooting etc.

    Here is the nslookup reply

    C:\>nslookup simt.unl.ac.uk
    Server: nscache0.ns.easynet.net
    Address: 212.136.78.33

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: simt.unl.ac.uk
    Address: 163.167.64.67

Using ping and tracert.. and their outcome.

pinging google first just to make sure!

    C:\>ping www.goole.com

Pinging nt-e.gxn.net [195.147.246.32] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 195.147.246.32: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=119
    Reply from 195.147.246.32: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=119

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 13ms, Maximum = 20ms, Average = 16ms

but if I ping my University host I get this

    C:\>ping simt.unl.ac.uk

Pinging simt.unl.ac.uk [163.167.64.67] with 32 bytes of data:

    Destination host unreachable.

    Destination host unreachable.

    Ping statistics for 163.167.64.67:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

This is the out come from tracert.

    C:\>tracert simt.unl.ac.uk

    Tracing route to simt.unl.ac.uk [163.167.64.67]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

      1 Destination host unreachable.

    Trace complete.

    C:\>

P.S I do appreciate the support.
