How bizarre. I don't see how this can be anything other than your OS'

Is the text string present in the compressed or uncompressed form?

The string "PuTTy" (as opposed to "PuTTY") does not appear anywhere in
the PuTTY 0.57 source, which implies that whatever is causing this it's
not PuTTY itself.
