Ok, I set PuTTY to "dynamic" port forwarding on port 1080 and omitted
the destination host (which only is required for "normal" port
forwarding).
Then I connected to my SSH server (I tried to different ones, both of
which worked with "normal" port forwarding using a tool that
internally uses PuTTY).
And netstat -a -n shows a listening server on that port.
However, configuring MSN to use a SOCKS proxy 127.0.0.1:1080 (I tried
both v4 and v5, v5 without username and password) doesn't seem to
work. It claims something was wrong with the internet connection or
the proxy settings.
Any idea?
