pam login limit ssh

Hi I am hoping someone can help me out, i am using a PAM object from
computer smith called login_limit for failed authentications/wrong
passwords. At this present moment, if a user has three failed login
attempts, his/her user account gets locked. I was trying to modify the
pam.conf file to raise the limit to five attempts, but i am unable to
do so. Any help is appreciated
