Tunelling OpenSSH and ZoneAlarm

I am running openssh on a win xp with zonealarm.

Unable to get tunelling to work properly with zonealarm activated.

I was unable to do openssh tunelling of a telnet connection. In
addition the ssh cleint keystrokes were being communicated with a
delay.

Switched off zonealarm and both problems disappeared. Dunno why? I
have granted access to the telnet server to the localzone, that
includes the localhost.
