Resize putty

Has anyone here had any luck resizing a putty session with an external
program (for example ZMover, StrokeIt or RemoteKeys) when putty is set
to change the number of rows and columns when resized?
For me the window is updated to the correct size, however right
afterwards the size is changed back to its original. This is not the
case if putty is set to change the font size when a window is resized.
