Sorry I should have included the versions.

SSHD that came with fedora core 1 : OpenSSH_3.6.1p2
Putty running on windows 2000 release 0.53b
SSH running on fedora core 1 : OpenSSH_3.6.1p2

I am having the same trouble from linux to linux. I haven't been able to
figure out how to get the debug from the server, any help would be
appreciated.
