    How odd! It does require the client side to be patched or upgraded.
    I built 3.8.1 and turned on the banner. Connecting from the upgraded
    machine to itself displays the entire banner. Connecting from an
    older 3.7.1p2 machine, the banner is cut off. Thanks for the tip. I
    never would have figured that out. Although I have to wonder what
    good it does to display the banner if it's appearance is dependant on
    the potential intruder have the current version of openssh. Shouldn't
    somebody fix that?
