The plan is OK. I would suggest designating one "always on" XP box to
run the OpenSSH server and set all of your tunnels from there, say :5901
--> 192.168.0.1:5900, 5902 -->192.168.0.2:5900 etc. Saves the time
taken to setup OpenSSH on all the boxes. Cygwin/OpenSSH does not really
work so well as a pseudo service on the Win9x line from memory.
Googling ssh and vnc will bring up ample resources.
