Yes, you'll need to apply it to the 3.7.1p2 source code and compile it.
(You'll probably need GNU patch to apply it, too).

I used to backport all of the AIX fixes and build new packages, but
that's a significant effort and since the next release is so close I'd
rather concentrate on getting it fixed for that.
