I tried openssh-SNAP-20040124.tar.gz from that directory.
Regrettably, it does not fix the problem.
Incidently, I had to disable the zlib version check. I do have Sun
patch 112611-02, which should give me zlib-1.1.4 . But apparently
Sun backpatched version 1.1.3, and left it reporting the version as
1.1.3, presumably for library compatibility with existing software.

I would have tried that. However, I couldn't figure out how to get
to the patch from that bugzilla web page.
