If PPTP isn't your thing, try OpenVPN. It's SSL based and has a Windows
client (and, to drag things marginally back on-topic, unlike IPSEC
or PPTP solutions you can run it over an SSH tunnel.)

You may also want to read Peter Gutmann's crtique of some of the VPN
